Beta-features & commercial purposes?

New Here ,

Are you allowed to use beta features in illustrator to create a product for commercial purposes?

Adobe states the following: "For features without the beta label, you can use Firefly generated output in your commercial projects. Beta features allow you to use Firefly generated output for your commercial projects unless explicitly stated otherwise in the product." But what about beta-features in illustrator? I can't find this anywhere...

Thanks so much.

Hello @Nout36246386g0wl,

I try to document the current status here:  Which Firefly Models are being used in which Adobe products.

The relevant quotes on whether beta versions can be used commercially are these quotes from Adobe documents:

However, if Adobe designates in the product or elsewhere that a beta version of a generative AI feature cannot be used commercially, then the generated outputs from that beta feature are for personal use only and cannot be used commercially.

Hello @Nout36246386g0wl,

Outputs from generative AI features without the beta label can be used commercially. Outputs from generative AI beta features can be used commercially unless otherwise designated in the product or elsewhere, but these outputs are not eligible for indemnification while in beta.

I have heard people say, "if it is beta, it cannot be used commercially". I do not agree that is what these say. I believe they say, "if it is beta, you can use commercially unless we specifically say you cannot, but in any case, beta versions are not eligible for indemnification."

In the case of Illustrator, I think there was some confusion because someone on stage at Max or another live event said Illustrator beta was not for use commercially. But unlike Photoshop and InDesign, I can find no documentation of that, and in fact the page saying text to vector beta was available says text to vector can be used commercially and does not say the beta version cannot be used commercially: Generate a vector graphic using a text prompt.

I think the evidence indicates that Adobe Illustrator beta can be used commercially. It would be nice if Adobe was super clear about this in writing on the web site.

My best,

    droopy
