Can't successfully wrap an image of a gear reflection on a bubble or glass ball. This is as close as I could get.

Hi lianne!

I like challenges lol!

DaveGustafson_0-1711851572509.jpeg

I was able to get all 3 gears to reflect on the surface, but it's very hit and miss, mostly miss. I tried it also on several other AI generative programs and got similar results. I didn't try Midjourney due to time here. This image is straight out of Firefly, no image manipulation. The prompt was : A chrome marble sitting on a table with 3 gears; isolated on black

Now the next image is the same base Firefly image, but this time I took it in to Generative fill.

Firefly 20240330225532.png

I brushed out the bottom 1/3 of the sphere and had it generate : gear reflections

After a few generations it produced a decent/ passable image.

Which one would I use? The first image the reflections "look" more correct, BUT Generative fill hands down, faster and more economical. Raw Firefly generation you will burn through your credits. The first image took 10 generations while the 2nd image using generative fill took only 3 = winner winner chicken dinner! Yes that is 3 gens on top of 10, but I used the base image for comparision purposes.

Now in closing are the reflections correct? No, but they are passable. True reflections are created by ray tracing.

I hoped I helped you in some way and yes it can be very frustrating, not only for you, but both of us lol.

Cheers!

Oh! I forgot to include this. I tried it with a glass of water and after 8 generations there's a "hint" of gear in the lower right of the glass using raw Firefly.

Firefly insanely detailed and realistic glass of water sitting on 3 gears, with appropriate refracti.jpg

While working on my stuff, I popped back and tried yours again. Tried a different material prompt.

Prompt was : A glass sphere with reflections ; gears lying beside ; isolated on black

There's a gear reflecting lightly in the bottom of the sphere and the top. Nothing has changed, Gen fill is the way to go.

Oh my God these are all so helpful!!!!! Thanks Dave for spending the time to create these. I'm addicted to generating firefly images for fun. Maybe as sources for my printmaking images.

Thank you! I have had several replys to this and each image is different, but together they show me a good "path to follow".
