fonts not showing in Illustrator

[KTA6]

I have a new Mac, latest OS and latest version of Illustrator (and Adobe CC). When I go to select "More Fonts" in the character palette, after the first screen or two, font names show, but not the sample text, so I don't know what those fonts look like.
I've looked at the other posts on fonts and Illustrator but have not found an answer to this issue.
