How to download an activated font for a billboard company?

Enthusiast ,

I have activated fonts via Adobe Cloud for my project, however the billboard company requires that I include the fonts with the source material. I told them it's activated via Adobe, but they say they're a billboard company and it's simply standard practice to include any used fonts, and they are not responsible for running Adobe on their billboard systems.

It's a .aep file for a massive multi-screen digital billboard, not a video or still export.

Please advise what to do since I can only find info saying that download is not possible - which makes things difficult. Thanks!

Hi @yash-lucid,

We're sorry for the delay. You’ll need a different license from the original foundry to share font files for the billboard. A PDF with the fonts embedded should work fine instead. Also, just a note — we flag and remove AI-style responses that sound convincing but don’t actually solve the issue.

Hey @yash-lucid

The easiest method, as you probably know for them to create an Adobe Account to access the Adobe Font via library.

(Quick AI Response)

To share a font library with someone not using an Adobe account, you must share the actual font files, not Adobe Fonts through Creative CloudYou can do this by compressing the font files into a ZIP folder, attaching the ZIP to an email, or uploading it to a cloud service and sending a link. For sharing Adobe Fonts with other Adobe users, use Custom Fonts for enterprise accounts or Creative Cloud libraries for other Adobe users, but this does not apply to users without an Adobe account.

Sharing Font Files with Non-Adobe Users
  1. Locate the Font Files: Find the font files on your computer.

  2. Compress the Files: Right-click on the font file or folder and select the option to compress them into a ZIP archive.

  3. Send the ZIP File: You can then:
    • Attach the ZIP file to an email.

    • Upload it to a cloud storage service (like Google Drive or Dropbox) and send the sharing link to the recipient.

    • Use any other file-sharing method that can transfer the ZIP file.
    •
    • Cheers: Nate

Thanks however I mentioned that they said they are not responsible for Adobe Activations and can't do so. They just need font files supplied per their guidelines.

you must share the actual font files

Thanks however the synced font files do not appear in my font folders. On Windows I looked at C:\Windows\Fonts, am I missing something?

If the billboard company cannot activate fonts (or just refuses to do so) then the type objects in the project may have to be converted to outlines. If they can accept After Effects project files I don't understand why it would be a problem for them to activate typefaces from Adobe Fonts used in the project.

Also, I don't know why they would suggest Adobe software being a problem for their billboard displays. Just about any make of LED-based variable message sign or billboard display is going to take file general purpose image or video file formats exported from applications like Photoshop and After Effects. They're not going to upload PSD or AEP files directly to the display.
