Hi

I have had a web chat and 3 phone calls to try answer the above question? Wasting 3 hours of my life.

I attach a transcript below of the web chat I had earlier to no avail.

Please advise how I can solve the issue outlined in my web chat conversation.

If a product is shown on your website that is the answer to my problem - how come I can’t buy a single font family from it now?

Are there any other OpenType products available anywhere that can provide a similar solution for using Helvetica in inDesign on a Windows PC?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Yours in hope

Can I purchase an individual font set from the Font Folio 11.1 collection? such as helvetica?

Deepak

I will be happy to help you.

You would need to buy any plan to get adobe font access

I am enquiring on behalf of a client who has a subscription to creative cloud but they don't have the font helvetica and need it to work on some documents we have prepared for them in inDesign using the font helvetica.

How much would it cost them to purchase Helvetica?

Deepak

You could buy Incopy app which is the cheapest one for USD 4.99 which will give you access to all fonts

Great. Please can you send me link that I can forward to them in the UK where they can buy the app?

Deepak

Use this link to get the app Incopy

Great many thanks.

Hi Deepak, That’s not quite what we need. We have sent them an Indesign template using Helvetica and they wish to create their own documents on their PC from that template (we are Mac). So they need to have the Helvetica fonts themselves. How do they get the Helvetica font?

Deepak

They can access font after buying an app only

So how do they actually get the font once they have the app?

Deepak

they could go to adobe font and access it

is there an extra cost to accessing the font?

Deepak

No it will be included with the app

Ah Ok thanks. Do they already have access to the font if they have an existing subscription to Creative Cloud?

Deepak

Yes, if they already have subscription you could access font

It looks like you have stepped away, this conversation will be closed for now. You can reach out to us again and we will be glad to help you

I am very sorry you got such bad information from someone representing Adobe.

The simple answer to your question is that no, you cannot buy single fonts from Adobe FontFolio 11.1 from Adobe.

Further details, especially with regards to your need for Helvetica.

The simple answer to your question is that no, you cannot buy single fonts from Adobe FontFolio 11.1 from Adobe.

Further details, especially with regards to your need for Helvetica.

(1) Adobe FontFolio 11.1 does not have any font with the name Helvetica. It does have a few OpenType CFF font families with the name “Helvetica” in it including Helvetica Std and Helvetica Neue Std. If you have applications expecting to access a font named Helvetica, it won't match anything available in the FontFolio.

(2) There are no fonts in the Adobe Fonts service with the name Helvetica. There are a bunch of fonts with similarities to Helvetica, but nothing with that name. If you want a “look-alike / work-alike” font to match Helvetica, you might as well use the Arial fonts that come with your computer. It buys you nothing to obtain a subscription to an Adobe product to have access to Adobe Fonts if all you want is Helvetica.

(3) The Adobe Fonts service, available with subscriptions to certain Adobe applications, does provide access to the Adobe Originals font families that are in the FontFolio. These include Adobe Garamond, Myriad, Minion, etc. Note that Adobe Fonts does not provide you with the font files themselves, but rather access to the fonts on demand from your applications.

(4) You can license individual fonts from FontFolio that are Adobe Originals from FontSpring at https://www.fontspring.com/foundry/adobe for which you actually get the font files for installation on your computer.

(5) To license fonts from FontFolio that are not Adobe Originals, you need to contact the source foundry or other font retailers including not only FontSpring, but MyFonts, etc.

Hopefully this clears up what you were looking to find out.

Are there no other options for purchasing commonly-used OpenType versions of font families like Helvetica, Futura, Frutiger, Univers, etc., besides expensive individual purchases from fontspring.com, myfonts.com, etc. or the comprehensive, but very expensive, Adobe Font Folio 11 that also contains these fonts?

In the old days, Adobe offered various smaller, type collections of commonly-used font families that met most users' needs at an affordable price. Are these still offered and, if so, where? And if they are not offered, why not? Individual artists and micro-businesses simply don't have the financial resources to buy numerous, commonly-used fonts individually from the various foundries, or collectively through the Adobe Font Folio. Where are the in-between solutions that used to exist?
