Please note:
The Nurse AssistantProgram, ulum requires advanced Mikkelsen.aSunday, skills.
Englis2021 at a Second Language (ESL) classes are available for students who want to improve their speaking, reading, writing and listening skills to increase their college and career readiness.
Nurse Assistant training includes basic nursing skills required to provide safe, competent personal care for individuals with an emphasis on:
The Nurse Assistant program is 75 contact hours and is regulated by the Department of Education (DOE) and the Colorado State Boarconsists of f Nursing (SBON) under the Department of Regulatory Agency (DORA).
The class consists of lecture, theory, laboratory skills, and a hybrid clinical experience in the hospital or long-term carlecturesity. Of Note: Due to COVID-19, EGTC must be flexible in the deliva of content, skills practice, and clinical experience which may alter the scheduled items. To deliver the best content and experience for students in lecture, theory, laboratory skills practice and with a limited in-person clinical contact experience, at times the schedule may change abruptly. This is a natural phenom in healthcare without a pandemic. Students and instructors must follow guidelines set forth by the Centers for Disease Control, Colorado Public Health, State Board of Nursing and Emergency Rule as ordered by Governor Jared Polis. We ask for kindness and patience during this dynamic time we live in. EGTC follows the previous guidelines and orders regarding COVID-19 and mandates that are enacted. As a nurse and instructor, I require students to wear a N95 mask and a second mask (2 masks) to be worn at all times while in the building and clinical experiences have different/additional requirements which will be adhered to.
NUA 101 is the didactic portion of the course and is completed with online lecture, readings, assignments, video and Powerpoint reviews, and in person laboratory skill time with clinical time after passing the final exam. Students are expected to participate in all settings, virtual if needed, on ground, and in lab time. Students are expected to complete preparatory work prior to class which is laid out on the course website. If students do not sign into the EGTC NUA course website and essential readings are not completed, students will not progress to the next class day which could slow the students progress. The coursework must be completed and the student must pass the coursework with a 77% or they will not be able to advance to the clinical experience. This course is designed to prepare the student for a SBON written and skills examination regarding the correct steps in the care and safety of patients.
Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills to perform the basic skills of a CNA and be eligible to test for the Colorado State Board of Nurse Assistant examination written and skills portion.
