Captivate Prime Menu Navigation is Stunningly Difficult for a 6 year old program

New Here ,

(posted in both CP and ACP communities; Adobe rep said the comment did not belong in CP, as if the product producing the eLearning and the actual LMS host were somehow not related--this continues to illustrate some serious difficulties I have respecting this platform--both CP and ACP).

I went out on a limb recommending Captivate (latest rev) and Captivate Prime as a eLearning solution. Absolutely stunned to find that a 6-year old program has "disappearing" slide navigation, and the recommendation is to render the file as a SWF format--on a Captivate Prime server. Other issues with font retention, substitution, lots of twerks and bugs to iron out, a 12-step checklist of things you have to tweak before you post to Prime. Really stunned that this product is in the Adobe product line, or that it is apparently cared for as poorly. We are trying to get help on these matters, but a 3-month job has now run into 6 months and my management is wondering why we did not go with and independent learning design product and a simpler LMS.

I don't know what to tell them. Our Adobe training provider seems to only want to sell us more training, and the individual bugs are as surprising to them as it is to us. I created a 10-point checklist just to make sure certain bugs are eliminated before the upload to ACP, but they still re-appear. But, in stellar software industry fashion, I am supposed to believe that the next version of the code is going to fix all this. I thought Adobe abandoned Flash/SWF format years ago (or at least I read this), but now I am being told to use SWF, even if it causes lost of problems for publishing to Prime in the first place. I have never seen navigation that makes it easy to skip a module to the next module, and yet is incapable of simply advancing one slide to the next sequenced slide. No learning paths, branches, gamification--just simply, basic stuff. This experience is so different from CC and some of the other Adobe products I have used for decades. Where is the real Adobe DNA in CP and ACP?

I have 5000+ contacts at LinkedIn, and I really don't want to share this with the world, but this just staggers the imagination that a program out on the market for so long would be so buggy. I have over 25 years LMS experience, 20+ elearning authoring experience, 10+ years university education experience (all modalities, written several certifications, worked on teams that did scores more, several master's degrees, no fool. Tell me that something is wrong here besides me, because all of my management currently feel the same way about this condition.

sure, I would like to discuss them (I am in Colorado) at your convenience.
Even my training provider is surprised how broken things seem to be. My
management is one recommendation (mine) from leaving an entire program that
would see 20+ for-profit courses and 50+ skills development courses
developed for the United States Department of Defense and the Department of
Homeland Security. I am personally embarrassed because I recommended these
products based on marketing messages from Adobe that clearly do no reflect
the quality of your other CC product offering.

We will not waste each other's time. I have to make a recommendation to my
customer by the 15th of December. It would seem that we have wasted 6
months time in a project that has already been funded.
