Hi,
I had created a custom field named "Department" sometime ago in our Captivate Prime setup. Since we want to restrict the values in this field, I had added the values to make it a dropdown field. Now we have new departments to be added, but I see a note saying that since this is a csv field, new values cannot be added to this field. Is there a way around it?
I want to allow this field to be populated when performing a csv upload of users, but it should be flexible enough to allow addition of new values.

Hi Ashutosh,
Thank you for contacting Adobe Captivate Prime Team.
As this active field was created by uploading a CSV file to the account the editing options are limited here.
When you are going to upload the next CSV, make sure there are some users with the new value that you want to add here.
Once that CSV is uploaded the new value will also show up here.
Kindly let me know if any further assistance is required.

Hi Debiprasa,
If I upload a new CSV, do I need to have all active users in the file, or can I just upload new users?
Also, is it possible to change the field behaviour from CSV to a manual entry one, so that I do not have to upload a CSV again.

Ashu

Hi Ashu,
Glad to hear from you.
You need to have all the active users in the CSV.
If you remove someone from CSV and upload it, the same user will be moved to Deleted state in Prime.
Same way if you add a new user to CSV and upload it, a new user will be created. So the CSV will server as a list of all the users created via CSV at one place.
Kindly let me know if any further assistance is required.

Thank you for the clarification.
Do I need to have all active users in the CSV, or just the one's that were uploaded by CSV. We've used the CVS upload as our initial setup, but all users henceforth have been added as single users.

Hi Ashu,
Glad to hear from you.
Yes, you can manage all the active users via CSV.
There are multiple ways to add users
1. CSV
2, Self-registration profile
3. Manually added by Admin / Single user
Let's take an example where a user was added as a single user and later the admin added him/her to CSV and uploaded the CSV to Prime.
Here the user will become a CSV user in the system and will be managed by CSV upload from that point.
So if you want to manage all the users via CSV then you need to create a CSV with all the active users in the system. Then you can add new users to the same CSV or remove users from the CSV and upload it to Prime to reflect the desired changes.
Kindly let me know if any further assistance is required.
Thank you for your patience and support.

Hi Debiprasad,
Thank you for your response.
We do not want to manage all users via CSV, this was a one time upload and all new users should be managed by the User administration process (Add/remove/modify single users).
However, we are not able to add any more departments, since they were added using a CSV upload. Is there a way to add new departments, without uploading all users via csv again?

Ashu

Hi Ashu,
Glad to hear from you.
Please navigate to the "Active Fields" section and click on the option "Modify".
Here you should be able to add additional values to active fields.
Kindly let me know if any further assistance is required.
