and i know this will fall under the years of requests for psd to have a nomal (ie like all other apps, "not how psd does it") undo function. which took over a decade to fix.

Hi!

I'm not quite following what you're asking for. We do have an option already in Media Encoder to change the default behavior when you stop the queue; it's the "Don't ask again" option in the dialog below.

Am I misunderstanding what you're asking for?

Thanks!

Fergus

Hi, sorry was under tight deadline and this issue constantly comes up. I feel like even after i hit the do not ask again button.

also - when you ask it to stop rendering, and you are in a hurry - my first instinct is that the button says "are you sure" - YES or NO-- so i click YES - and then it goes back to rendering.

The button basic says- you hit stop  - would you like to continue -(even though you just hit stop). I dont need my software to second guess what i asked it to do.

The button should say - "are you sure you want to stop the render" - y or n

Ah, I see what you're getting at. Our intent is to respect your request to stop the queue but to give you the option to let the current job finish - but to also let you change the default behavior so you don't get asked again.

98% of the time, I know I just want to kill the entire queue (usually because I've made a mistake with an output setting!) and don't care if the current job finishes processing. However, while the current file option pre-dates my involvement with Media Encoder, I suspect we did put it in based on customer feedback. When we do the next study on user experience improvements, this will be a good topic to bring up, so thanks for asking about it.

For now, if you can duplicate the issue of the current file choice not being remembered, let me know. I'll file it as a bug and we'll figure it out.

Thanks for the feedback! Oh, if you're using the latest beta of Media Encoder, check out the new Preferences > Notifications feature. We added an option to get notified when each file is done or when all files or done or both. If it's something you'd use, let me know what you think.

Thanks!

Fergus

Thanks, sorry again for my intial rage post.

And like you said - yeah, im in the same boat that most of the time if i need to cancel 1 render theres an issue with all the others in the que.

I'll have to check out the notification system. I think it's useful, but I haven't had a use for it yet - largely becuase of work from home.

Rage post?! Oh, man, you haven't spend much time on the Internet if you think that was a rage post! 😉 Seemed very mild to me 'though many years ago I worked in Tech Support, so my rage tolerance is pretty high!

Seriously, thanks very much for the feedback. Always appreciated.

Regards,

Fergus
