Adobe Media Encoder making MacBook Pro extremely laggy

I have a brand new MacBook Pro (16 inch, 2019) with the following stats:
Processor: 2.4 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9

Memory 64 GB 2667 MHz DDR4

Graphics: AMD Radeon Pro 5600M 8 GB

Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB

I am trying to render a 14 min 4K video in the Adobe Media Encoder Version 14.3.1 (Build 39), however, it's extremely slow and causing my computer to lag. This doesn't happen on my Windows desktop computer, that only has 16 GB of memory. This should not be an issue at all. What is going on?

Hi there,

I understand your computer gives performance issues whenever you use Adobe Media Encoder. Ideally, it should not happen. If your computer goes slow, it could be because of the hardware utlization.

  • Could you check the memory allotted to AME under Preferences settings in AME?
  • Also, which version of macOS are you using?

Looking forward to your response

Thanks,

Shivangi
