Hello, I was just wondering does media encoder allow you to choose a thumbnail from video you export?. I know that You Tube has this feature.

Thank you

Hi there,

Thanks for writing in. As the expert mentioned, this feature is not available in AME as of now. However, you can always share your suggestions with our engineering team here: https://adobe-video.uservoice.com/forums/911308-media-encoder

We'll make sure it gets more eyes.

Regards,

Shivangi

As was already mentioned, AME can't do this, but just to clarify, do you want to be able to select a frame to upload to YouTube as a thumbnail, or do you just mean you want to be able to pick a thumbnail for your video for any player, Windows Explorer, or macOS Finder? If the latter then just FYI that thumbnails aren't ever stored in a video, the player is the one that picks these. Some players will automatically default to 50% of your video, others will pick something 5 seconds into the video to avoid showing black, but YouTube is actually creating an image (or you upload your own) and displaying that, rather than showing part of the video.
