I've been having this issue for a few months.

Everytime I try to render something from After Effects to AME it ALWAYS fails. Actually it doens't even start, it fails before starting to render anything. It happens with every single project, both in mp4 and quicktime (the two formats I usually use) and in general in every single situation. I'm basically not able to use AME ever. I always have to export through After Effects and it's extremely annoying since I am forced to stop working whenever I need to export.

I was able to fix this issue in the past by changing "Mercury Playback Engine Software Only" but now it started not working again and I haven't changed any settings.

I have no idea what to do or where to even start to fix this...

Does this also happen in Beta?

Do I need to install both AE and AME Beta versions to test AME Beta? I've never really used the Beta apps

Yes. You need to have matching versions of AE and AME. But the betas can coexist with your other Adobe video releases.
