Is it possible to convert a H.265 video to VP9?

Is it possible to convert a H.265 video to VP9 so that the video can be uploaded to Youtube? It is a long 4k video so I don't want to encode again from Premiere Pro as that took over 150 hours. I am not familiar with AME and wondering if there is a faster way like transcoding?

Yes, you can but you need to install a 3rd party plugin to encode to VP9.

To my knowledge, it is recommended to use the Youtube's recommended Encoding settings. Please check this article:

However, exporting in DNxHD using the HQX preset can also give you satisfactory results.

Can a HEVC video be transcoded to VP9 instead of encoded? Will it be faster than exporting as H.265 or VP9 from Premiere Pro?

Looks like Handbrake can convert from HEVC to VP9. I'll assume that is the best option to use.

Except for Handbrake, Super is a wonderful tool to convert HEVC to VP9. These two software are total free.

As for the fast conversion speed, you need to use a tool with batch conversion function. In this way you can convert a lot of files one time. If you meet such question again and need a better solution, you may try Cicever VP9 Converter in Google and there it will  provide an easy way to convert files to VP9 with high quality and fast speed. Hope it can help in some ways.
