Media encoder mts file to ipad

Hi,

I am trying to post videos that I took with a panasonic digital camera into imovie. The files are mts files, so I used media encoder to change them to mp4 files. The videos work fine on my laptop, but when I try to upload them to the ipad, it says that they cannot be found/cannot be used. I can add them to the ipad in a video app, but they will not transfer to photos or imovie.

I think it is a formatting issue since the videos work on other platforms, so is there a different format in media encoder that I can use to add them to the ipad?

ipads support mp4's but you may have some other incompatible setting.
