Media Encoder transcoding extremely slow | h265 - ProRes 422 HQ

Adobe Media Encoder takes forever to transcode 4K H265 60fps X-T3 footage to ProRes 422 HQ or even creating 1280 x 720 ProRes 422 proxies. Up to 20 times more than ffmpeg: what ffmpeg transcoded in 1hr or so, AME shows 21 hours estimated.

At this moment it's unusable for me and it gravely affects my ongoing projects.

All GPU drivers are up to date, removed and fresh installed. Same with AME.

Performance monitoring while transcoding shows something like this:

System specs are (Asus Strix GL704GW):

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8750H CPU @ 2.20GHz, 2208 Mhz, 6 Core(s), 12 Logical Processor(s)

32 GB RAM

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070

Windows 10 64-bit

Lately I've been seeing multiple reports of AME's slow performance after the latest updates. I've tried some suggested fixes or workarounds, unfortunately none of them worked.

Is there an official response from Adobe regarding this issue? Has anyone maybe come close to a solution or workaround?

Thank you.

Twenty to one is a pretty stark difference.

I think there was/is an issue with H265 clips from some newer cameras.  Have you tested to see if you get the same slower transcode times if the source is H264?  Not that that helps resolve the issue, but it may be helpful to Adobe Staff.

Hopefully, someone will chime in.
