Never had this problem until I updated to 2018 versions. When I try to add the file to the queue AME becomes unresponsive and I have to force quite the program. Same thing happens in Premier when I try to import the footage.

Sorry. Did you copy the entire contents of the CF card to your hard drive including all the metadata folders? Did you import the footage via the Media Browser and not the File > Import protocol? These are the potential holes in your workflow, so I'd investigate your methodology for ingesting footage in trying to solve this problem.
