canon h264 to media encoder h264 information loss

given a video from canon dslr encoded to MP4/MOV H.264 4:2:0 (Full Range),

why is it that after warp-stabilizing it in ae,

media encoder will encode it back to h264 

- at 10x smaller filesize for default bitrate

- at 2x smaller filesize at maximum bitrate

?

  • Which version of AE and AME are you using?
  • Could you share a screenshot of the export settings you have chosen in After Effects?
