Hey all, this is my first post on the forums, since this is the first issue I've been unable to solve on my own. Before the CC 2017 update, I was able to render h.264 pretty flawlessly, but ever since that update (I have 2018 now), h.264 has given me nothing but headache. I can render in some losslesss formats like AVI, but never a compressed format. En always crashes. Here's the log that was created post crash. Let me know if you need any other info, thanks!

I have the same issue. I'm exporting from After Effects, it's a 10 sec timeline that I tried to export it several times, but the AE and Media Encoder crash constantly.

In one of the reports said that the disk is full

I cleared the Cache folder for AE and AME

Empty Trash

Rebooted  but still no luck.

I realized that as soon as I start the encode process, the Cache folder of After Effects  gets populated again with about 50GB of files. IT'S RIDICULOUS.

I got it to export it in the end after several reboots, but boy it's annoying.

I have a  15'' mid 2015 MacBook Pro Retina , 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7 quad core

16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3,

AMD Radeon R9 M370X 2 GB

Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB

It took over 1h to export a 10 sec animation. I mean..I know it's not a super computer, but still....1h for  10 sec???

I think it's something wrong with this 2018 update.

PippyThePirate,

Anything unusual in the file naming? Punctuation, like a period, comma, colon?

Thanks,

Kevin

Could you help me?

I have an issue with rendering my video either in Media Encoder or in After Effects.

I made a video with many effect ( Sapphir, Twixtor & co ) and I used gaming clips which were rather big ( 20- 40 MB ) and they had 300 fps. So I tried to render the video in Media Encoder but it always stopped at the same point and finally it kinda crashed. So I turned the 300 fps to 30 fps, but it didn’t help. I’ve never had such a problem. Furthermore in After Effects, I had to struggle with the preview, I could hardly watch my video even If I turned it to 1/4 quality.

Thanks for helping me,

Sarah

Did you ever figure out what the problem was and how to resolve it?

Can this get addressed please?
I have this issue also, one time, it dumped 1.1 Terabytes of data into the cache folder and killed my hard-drive causing me to have to buy a new one.

The issue I have found (and this happens to me very regularly in long animations of 3mins+)
Media Encoder crashes on any exports that contains expressions regarding evolution of parameters in AE.
For me, it seems to be Fractal Noise as the biggest culprit, but I'm not sure.
This then freezes my entire system and causes a Blue Screen and a forced restart (usually happens an hour into rendering),
leaving a colossal dump of text files in the Local Temp Cache folder.

Below, find a list of error dumps it has left behind:

So far, I have found no fix, other than dumbing down my creations.

Also, as a side note, I have noticed that Media Encoder also causes my GPU to operate at 1/10th the performance it does when in idle, but all my settings appear as the should according to online guides.

Please help, blender sucks!
