Why does my iphone7 camera take photos as pdfs and not jpegs?

first, what makes you think your photos are pdfs?

Hope you are doing well. 

From the above conversation, if your photos are being saved automatically as PDFs instead of JPEGs, you might be using any PDF scanner to capture the image.

If not, I suggest contacting the phone manufacturer to get this checked and fixed.
