anchoring photos within running text in XD

In InDesign, you can anchor a photo so that it stays in place when text reruns. Is there a similar ability in XD? All I am trying to accomplish is to keep photos in place so they are near the part of the text that references the photo.

We can Fix elements in XD

New to XD: Fixed elements

One of our most requested features, fixed elements, allows you to set design objects to a fixed position on an artboard. You can layer them above or below other design objects, so that headers, footers, menus, etc. travel with the user as they scroll down your artboard. Fixed elements appear not only in Desktop Preview, but also Prototypes and Design Specs live on the web, giving the viewer of your design a much more realistic interaction experience. Janjan Tayson, Digital Creative Director of The New York Post, spent some time with the new feature and found that “Being able to quickly design an element and having the capability of creating a fixed position with one checkmark click is a smart user experience to meet our team’s rapid prototyping needs. Creating and representing fixed header and footer elements have never been easier!” Click the video below to see fixed elements in action.

Actually, none of these three answers are quite right - I must not have framed the question properly. I want to have the photo flow with the text, so that it is always in the same place relative to a place in the text- not have the text flow around a fixed photo. So that if I change type size, the photo moves with the type. Or, if the app is viewed on different devices that cause the type to reflow, the picture moves with the text. Example: Photo A blogs with Paragraph 12. Photo A would be "anchored" to Paragraph 12, and if some design or device caused the text to reflow, the photo would move with the text, so that 12 and A would remain in close proximity. Thanks!

I see what you're saying here. Unfortunately, this isn't currently supported in XD, either. However, you should file it on UserVoice - https://adobexd.uservoice.com

Thanks,

-Elaine

September 2018 Release of Adobe XD: Responsive Resize, Timed Transitions, and More | Adobe Blog

New to XD: Responsive Resize

We live in a world where designing for multiple devices is not only important, it’s essential. Adobe XD has now added a Responsive Resize feature that allows you to resize groups of objects while keeping their placement and scalability. All you have to do is resize the group right there on the design canvas, and XD will keep the relative spacing in place.

While XD will do its best to recreate the placement of your elements on a larger or smaller canvas as you resize them, you can also switch to manual mode to edit constraints manually for more control. This way you’ll be able to control the exact scalability of an object’s height and width, along with its alignment within the group.

There are many ways Responsive Resize can be used to speed up the process of designing for multiple devices, including the ability to pin a button or icon to a corner, fix elements to the edges of your design, and fix the padding of a design to keep an icon’s size and position intact.

If I understand you correctly, you want text to flow around an image automatically. This isn't something that XD has currently, but you should file this as a suggest in UserVoice: https://adobexd.uservoice.com

Thanks,

-Elaine
