Can I have image fit options for when I drag and drop an image into a mask in XD?

Is there a way to set a fit behavior when I drag and drop an image into a mask? XD always completely fills the mask, cropping out any content that is too tall or wide. Fit options, typically fit, fill and stretch, are pretty standard elsewhere, including InDesign, so I'm hoping I'm just missing something.

As context, I'm building a component where I need to drop in a new icon image for every instance, and this component is going to be used all over the place. Unless I'm missing something, I'm going to need to reize the icon image every single time I create a new instance of this component.

Help will be much appreciated!
