Crash when loading PSD file

Community Beginner ,

Hi, I have been using Adobe XD for a long time and never had any problems.

After updating it just yesterday through Adobe Creative Cloud, I've been facing crashes when trying to open certain PSD files on my Adobe XD file.

My XD file would suddenly disappear without any alerts or messages. This happens when I load up some of my PSD files (not all of them).

Please find demonstration video below:

I am using Windows 10, 64-bit operating system. All my graphic cards are up to date.

Adobe Creative Cloud Version 4.7.0.400

Not sure how to check Adobe XD Version, it has the latest update via Creative Cloud.

Hi vFady,

Thank you very much for sharing the files with me. Looks like you are hitting a Windows only bug where Adobe XD crashes on opening  PSD files which were created using "Middle Eastern & South Asian" text engine in Photoshop. XD engineers are aware of this bug and they are working in it.

For now I am aware of to workarounds:

1. Rollback to Adobe XD 12.0

2. Use XD 13.0 version in MAC machine

As soon as I have another workaround I will let you know.

Regards

Vivek

Hi vFady,

We are sorry to hear that you are getting this issue with Adobe XD. As this is not happening with all PSD files I suspect this is happening due to something within the PSD file. You can try to delete layers of the file one by one and then try to open PSD in XD, this will help to identify the layer or layer item that is causing the crash.

I would request you to share the PSD file with me for debugging purpose so that we can find the root cause.

To share the file with me you can use filesharing services like wetransfer.com or creative cloud and share the download link with me by sending a private message. To send a private message please hover over my profile image and click message button.

Regards,

Vivek

Hi Vivek!

I have the same issue as above. Can you send me a download link to version 12.0? I can't seem to find it anywhere! I don't have an option to revert back in CC.

Thanks!! D

Hi dreaming_in_film,

Apparently the option to install an older version is not available to trial users. I am not able to find version 12.0 anywhere as well.

You may have to use a MAC machine or wait for the fix. However, I just found an alternative way to use your files on XD.

First save the PSD file as a JPEG file, then drag it into your XD Project. Create an Artboard around the image and use the XD tools to create Interactive buttons (make 0% transparent Squares).

Hope this works
