Design Specs - colors

When I click on a vector element that has a color applied to it with text inside I don't receive the attributes for the color in the specs panel, only the attributes for size, margins etc for the element. The text inside is spesified with typeface, size and color. When I deselect the element I get to see all the colors in the design presented in a palette. I want to see the hexcode for the colored element I click on, not all the colors that applies to the whole page at once instead, although that could be interesting also in other settings. When the vector element doesn't hold text inside I get the color specs for the vector element by selecting it, but not if it has text inside of it. Is this a bug or something?

Perrybrus, I certainly understand the situation and I must say that our engineering is constantly working to improve our user's experience.

Hi Perrybrus,

I have tried to reproduce the issue as per the description, here is the screenshot. I created an object in Adobe Illustrator and exported it as ".SVG" to Adobe XD. I am able to see the hex code in the properties panel. Similarly, when I select the text, the text properties are displayed and I can see the hex code for the text color as well.

Is this what you are looking for? Please share the steps to reproduce the issue if this is not the situation that you are facing.

Thanks,

No. I'm using XD to design the UI, not illustrator. None of my elements are SVG, they are vectors created by XD, thus no particular vector format as XD doesn't create vector formats by itself unless its exported. The Ui has more than one single element, it has many. If the vector element is huge with lots of inner margins like in your example my published specs normally generates the color specs, but if the box is small holding a single number for instance, the problems occur. I can select both the vector element and the type inside selectively, but then the vector shape color doesn't appear as a hex.

Ok, thanks for sharing the situation again and sorry for the confusion, I got confused with the vector. I would really appreciate if you could share the file or a screenshot so that I can try to replicate it.

Awaiting your response.

Thanks,

I understand the need for authentic file sharing but I'm still not at liberty to share any of my design files with external parties. Company policy. However, it's one of those buggy situations that I find occurring in XD more often than in other Adobe apps. That means it comes and goes. Creating a new file with some of the same setup won't necessary amount to the same issues. That's the nature of XD I think, it's buggy. Errors don't occur in the same manner every time.
