I can no longer open my document or continue working.  This is the worst of the many crashes I've had with XD since starting my project in October.  Now, after months of hard work I cannot do anything!  Has anyone seen error 2161?  When I search google nothing comes up, which is scary!

Hi everyone,

Sorry to hear that you're getting "Error 2161 while opening the document in XD". Please check the solution mentioned on this thread (https://community.adobe.com/t5/adobe-xd/error-quot-sorry-we-can-t-open-this-document-in-adobe-xd-quot-or-error-47-while-opening-the-cloud/td-p/10415491). It's a different error, however, the solutions should help you fix this problem.

Thanks,

Harshika

SOLVED: Reached out to Adobe Support via Chat.

1. Went on Creative Cloud > Your Work

2. Selected Library file with issue and clicked Duplicate button (Duplicate is not the same thing as Copy). You lose version history but can retain links through Step 3.

3. Republished Dup file and it will ask if you want to publish into the same library (Yes, Continue)

4. Go into Work File and Click on Update (99+) Components.

Now file with Artboards has all links pointing to new Library file.

There is no duplicate option in Creative Cloud or web version of Assets?

Here’s the best solution for resolving Adobe XD error code 2161:

  1. Open Adobe XD Home Screen: Launch a fresh instance of the Adobe XD desktop application.
  2. Locate Your Cloud File: Navigate to the "Your Files" section in the cloud storage.
  3. Duplicate the File: Click on the three-dot icon next to the file, and select the "Duplicate" option from the menu.
  4. Access the Duplicated File: A copy of the original file will now appear in your "Your Files" section. Open this duplicated file to continue working seamlessly.
  5. Link Integrity Maintained: The best part? The duplicated file retains the same sharing URL/link as the original. This allows you to update and collaborate on the file without any disruptions or changes to the shared link.

With this quick fix, you can resolve the error while maintaining a smooth workflow!

For those who have had error 2161 recently.

I have files with shared assets and I ended up getting error 2161. What I did to avoid having to recreate all the work I had and still have the assets linked between the files was:

1. Open Creative Cloud and download my file locally in "Your Files".

2. I opened the local file and it opened normally without errors.

3. I published this new file with the same name and with the same assets as the one in the cloud.

And there you have it, a message will appear asking if you want to replace your cloud file and assets, you accept and your file is replaced with a new version that works normally, you don't lose the link between files and everything stays as usual. it was before.
