FONT size is by default in pt and it translates it 1:1 to px

Sizes, densities & math are a part of the design.

I'm not a math person but...

 

Why I can't change default text unit to px — and why when looking at dev's specs it is translated 1:1 — 

so 55 pt > makes 55 px 

 

I need some help with that truly

In short, XD does use px for text size, not points. It uses @1x pixel sizes which can be extrapilated into @2x and @3x as needed. These @1x pixels are sometimes called "reference" or "coded" pixels, and are translated 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3 depending the on the output resolution of the screen.
