I saw a discussion about a character styles bug in XD but I'm not sure if my issue is the same as others. So I wanted to bring it to Adobe's attention and see if there was any fix for this because it is driving me crazy.
So my company has a master file set up as a template for our projects using the Character Styles and Components. I've never noticed this issue before today. When I opened up our new updated template file and went to the Character Styles on the left side and right-clicked to edit the font, it looks like it updates on all my boards but then it doesn't update within the Character Styles themselves. When I right-click to edit it again it's still showing the previous font and not updating it to the new font. Please let me know if you have heard of this issue and when it might be resolved or how I can resolve it on my end.

Same issue but worse. It started yesterday (Jun. 9) around 5 pm. When I edit my character styles, it randomly updates some of the text (sometimes even random characters inside a text frame), leaving the rest of them unchanged. And yes, when I right-click to edit it again it's still showing the previous font and not updating it to the new font, thus also breaking the connection from the ones being randomly "updated."

Adding an update to my previous comment: me and my colleagues have the same issue with XD 57.0.12. Now the whole company has uninstalled the latest XD and reinstalled its previous version 56.1.12 in order to keep things moving.
I am having a similar issue, but worse. I am attempting to edit the character styles in our company's master design sytem file. When I right-click a character style, click edit, and change a style, nothing changes in any of the artboards– nor does the character style update. It seems like there is a bug or broken feature. Is there an update or work around that I can deploy?
Hello. I am not the original poster, but I did have this same exact issue and ran into this discussion and just wanted to say that updating to 'XD 57.1' from CCD did the trick and fixed my issues with the Character Styles.
