Import *FROM* After Effects?

New Here ,
Dec 28, 2018 Dec 28, 2018
So I'm new to Adobe XD and I see there's an option to export to After Effects to have more custom animation options, but I can't figure out how to update in XD after making changes in AE...  All the tutorials I've seen only cover getting into AE and animating, then they just end.  Hopefully it's not only a one-way street where you're supposed to render a video file to bring back into XD, right? I would love to be able to build animations in AE and bring that animation data back into XD to implement in HTML/CSS/JavaScript.
Does anyone know how this is supposed to work? Thanks for any help!
