Hi Aakarah0101,

<Response edited to provide better clarity>

The free XD Starter plan, which doesn't require a subscription, is still available here: http://www.adobe.com/go/xdstarter. XD Starter has limited set of collaboration and sharing features and is intended for personal use. We recommend purchasing an XD paid plan or starting a free trial by visiting our product page here: https://www.adobe.com/products/xd/pricing/individual.html

Do let us know if you need more info or assistance.

Hi Julius,

Adobe has acknowledged an issue with the version 50 update of XD, and hopefully they will address it.

But importantly, the Starter version of XD has not gone away, and there seems to be a straightforward workaround to access it (even in version 50)...

Here it is: Instead of launching XD from the Creative Cloud Desktop app, try launching it from elsewhere – namely, from the Windows Start menu or from the macOS Dock/Launchpad.

Then choose the "Exit XD" button, but XD Starter sho

Is XD already installed on the machine? What happens when you start XD from the macOS Dock/Launchpad? Did you select the "Exit XD" button after launching it?

OK, so it sounds like XD is not already installed on the machine.

The Creative Cloud app is actually how XD (usually) installs.

The Creative Cloud app does the downloading and installation of XD, and other apps as well.

So normally, that's what you should use. Does that not work for you?

The other option is to get a standalone installer. There are two ways to do that – the first works only if you're a paid subscriber, but the second works for anyone with no subscription required.

Hi, I pay monthly for the Adobe Photo subscription. But on the website you linked to me I can't find a direct download for adobe XD.

Again to explain. I installed the Creative Cloud so I can install Photoshop. However, if I want to install Adobe XD on the new Macbook, the only way to do that is through a 7-day trial, which I used years ago! I've been using Adobe XD since launch and now I can't open any of my projects without paying!

Installing manually via the XD Installer does not work. Why? Because when you run it on the Macbook, the Creative Cloud starts and then wants to subscribe!

So very simple question, how can I now install Adobe XD that I have on my other Macs on my new Mac WITHOUT being forced into a subscription?

Thank you very much for the support.

David, is XD actually installed on the new Macbook or not? It remains unclear from the things you've said. What happens when you start XD from the macOS Dock/Launchpad? (not from the Creative Cloud app)

Did you try either of the two methods described in the article linked just above? You can possibly get a standalone installer either from Adobe Customer Care or via the Admin Console (with a Teams free trial). Did you follow either or both of those suggestions?

I've already written that 3 times? XD cannot be installed on my Macbook without a subscription. Only Photoshop is installed over Creative Cloud. I don't understand how the 2 methods are supposed to work. Adobe Customer Care tells me to subscribe. If I complete the team trial, XD will be gone after 14 days, won't it?

No. We seem to be going in circles. In your previous post, you wrote: "Installing manually via the XD Installer does not work." But how do you know that – did you actually get an XD standalone installer from Customer Service and try it? In your new reply, you seem to indicate that you didn't.

And whether you do it that way – or sign up for the Teams trial – in both cases the XD program will remain installed on your computer permanently.

If you carefully read the article again, you may better understand. All the necessary info is there.

Once XD is installed, you can launch it from elsewhere (besides the Desktop app) – namely, from the Windows Start menu or from the macOS Dock/Launchpad.

Hope that helps.

Ok unfortunately I could not find any solution via the website. But I could do it differently now. I just copied the entire XD app from my other Mac and pasted it into the new Mac. Works fine. Backed up as a zip now in case I get a new Mac next year. Many thanks for the help.

I've the same issue as davidk47085094, but a different story. I'm using Adobe XD for like 1/2 years now. And I've always used the free version of it. But now when I try to update Adobe XD, I get in a payment window. I can't skip this process, and must subscribe to the paid version of XD.

I also tried downloading the .exe from the link you've send above. But when I run it, it automatically opens Creative Cloud and puts me again in a payment window. Is there any other way I can keep using Adobe XD for free? This issue was also with a friend, he tried to install Adobe XD from the link above, but also got in this payment window. I'm pretty sure it isn't just me, but an issue created by the 7 day free trail.
