Library issues: Shifting components + Error: Unable to update component

Hi there,

I am experiencing several issues with Adobe XD:

I've created a library (L) in a source document (S) and am using this library in another document (D).

Shifting instances in D

When making changes to the components in L/S, updating and then updating D, instances start shifting without a noticable pattern. (In S no shifting is happening.) I have been trying to find the reason for this issue. One approach was to try to remove stacks. While continuing to work with it the shifting happened again, so it appears that stacks are not to be the origin of the shifting.

--> There is no option other than Adobe fixing this. Why is this happening, how can I fix it and how can it be prevented in the future?

Error when updating D

After this a new problem occured: I update L. When trying to update D, the following error occurs: "Unable to update component because of an error." As I read in other posts this is a generic error. My guess is: When I was removing stacks, I was doing that to components that were nested. I think that XD is unable to handle nested components and changes to them.

--> The only option I see is creating a new D and this is a lot of work and should not be necessary!

Please make this a priority.

Facts about my usage:

I am using

- Mac on macOS Big Sur Version 11.1

- Adobe XD 55.0.12.9

This is what I found in other posts:

  • You are logged in to Adobe Creative Cloud :white_heavy_check_mark:
  • The library wasn't deleted :white_heavy_check_mark:
  • You still have permission to use the Library :white_heavy_check_mark:
  • The library source document does not have any un-Published changes :white_heavy_check_mark:
  • That component still exists in the Library :white_heavy_check_mark:

I marked them all with a checkmark.

Hi @Marlena5F91,

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry to hear you're experiencing issues with components shifting and being unable to update components. Thanks for checking the community posts and trying the steps suggested.

For shifting issues:-

  • Is it possible for you to record a video of your workflow for better understanding?
  • Have you started observing this issue on XD 55, or was it happening on the previous version also?

For update issues:-

If you are using the 'Update All button at the bottom, then try updating each Component individually using "Update" from the context (right-click) menu of each Component.

If that still doesn't work, we suspect that you might have Nested Components from a different source document which also has pending updates. Try opening each source file directly and applying any pending updates first.

Let us know if that helps. We'll try our best to help.

Thanks,

Harshika

Hi @HARSHIKA_VERMA ,

thanks for your quick answer.

For shifting issues:

  • I have created an example to show the issue - a screen video is attached to this message
  • This issue started in August, I am not sure if this problem is connected to a specific update

For update issues:

At some point I also started getting the error “Component ‘component name’ has required components that conflict with components in your document. Please update the libraries with these components to the same version: list of components)”

  • I have been trying to update all and to update each component - the issue remained
  • I did have a lot of nested components, but every component used in this file originates from the same library. The library I was trying to update the file on.

—> My team and I have decided to give up this file for now to be able to continue our work. It was too buggy and unreliable and other people in the community posts have had the same problem without a solution.

But: It would be good to know why this happened to prevent it from happening in the future.

Thanks,

Marlena
