Linked Asset Issue

Couple of issues noted when working with linked asset.

1. While editing linked component/asset(from another file) , the application freezes. I had to docuble click on any artboard name to bring back the controls.

2. Undo & Redo are not working If I use linked components.

Fixes are much needed as working with a standard/styleguide is stopping the progress.

What is the OS & XD version of your machine?
Is it happening with all the files or with a specific file?
Did you try to switch between the apps for sometime and come back on XD?

Hi Harshika,

Thanks for your reply. Here are my software version details:

macOS Mojave, Version 10.14.6 | XD Version 24.4.22.1

Below are my observations:

Link asset in XD native works perfectly fine.

On XD native files, link assets works well. Even if I import a component from sketch file that was opened in XD/saved as XD.

Issue occurs with Sketch file

Open a sketch file in XD. Save as XD/unsave.
Paste a component from another XD file /Sketch file (opened in XD app). Example button component with text.
Edit text. Click outside.
All the elements in the file freezes including tool bar. But can scroll the document.
Right side property panel works fine for text. But rest of the elements in arboards are still in freeze state.
Undo & Redo are disabled.
Switching between applications also not resolving the problem.
Double clicking on the artboard name brings it back to normal mode. Able to interact with elements & artboards now.

Hope these observations help your team. Looking forward to know if we have some workaround for this.
