Linking items should be masked

Hi!

I recently wanted to mimmick the case of a dialog box with a shaded overlay:

So first of all, it would be great if one of the other suggestions were implemented and we are able to change visibility/other properties of elements based on interaction. Until then I have to copy the artboard and add my dialog box as shown above (some items removed for brevity/confidentiality). This is an acceptable workaround except that the entire dialog box is clickable. Although it's white background is not linked (only the buttons are), it seems that the shaded mask I put behind it, which is linked, is responding when a user clicks on the dialog background (I can confirm this by giving it a different target to anything else on the artboard). I would expect (and hope you can fix XD) such that the unlinked dialog background, covers the mask and clicking on it has no effect.

Hotspots are clickable, even if they are hidden by other elements. The team is introducing a new feature called Overlays in a future release that may help with what you are trying to do.
