My psd and ai files can't open with xd on right-click mode!

The previous version is still ok, there is xd option in the right-click open mode, but in the latest update, it suddenly won't work! Now I can only open xd first and then select open, find psd or ai file, and open it!

Hi Chun01,

Thanks for using Adobe XD and sharing the feedback about this issue, where you are unable to open .psd file in XD directly. I would request you to reinstall Adobe XD and retry the workflow. Please update this discussion with the results.

Thanks,

Atul_Saini

Hi,

I've a similar problem where I can't no longer open PSD in XD.

I've tried uninstalling and installing XD again, but the problem is the same.

XD shows that it loads the file, but in the middle it just crashes.

Would love to get some help on this issue.

Would it be possible for you to upload your PSD files to a shared location such as Creative Cloud, Google Drive, or Dropbox and share the URL with Atul or me over a private message? To send a private message, click our picture and use the Message button.

Thanks,

Preran

That may be of use for testing a crash while opening, or perhaps seeing if the non-Roman characters in the file name matter. But for the variation I reported you only have to open Photoshop, create a new PSD, Save As "test.psd", and you already have a file that Windows XD cannot open from a right-click menu in the Windows desktop.

Selecting "Your Computer" from the XD welcome screen does open the same PSD ok.

Got you, Colin, I was wanting the file to check for reasons for any crash. The rest of what you say is completely valid.

Hi Preran,

I've sent you a private message with a link to a PSD file that crashes XD when I try to open it.

Will appreciate a response from your side.

I opened your file in Adobe XD using the right-click option on a computer running Mac OS High Sierra. The file opened just fine, and XD did not crash.

Thanks,

Preran

Thanks, Preran. I'm using Windows 10.

The latest XD update to version 14.0.42.14 solved this problem, and now I can successfully open PSD files with it.

Thanks!

Some extra information for you:

I have Parallels running Windows 10 on my Mac. I can right-click a PSD in Finder and Open With XD under Windows, and it opens fine. But in Windows itself, using Open With doesn't show XD as an option in the initial list, nor in the Open another app list. Also, dragging a PSD to XD in the Task bar, or via Alt-Tab, shows a no entry sign cursor.

I just found this article:

windows 10s - Choose an app on "open with" - Super User

But that work around doesn't work for XD. I repeated my tests after doing an uninstall and reinstall.
