Poor image quality on iPhone

When I preview my @X1 XD file on iPhone the image quality is very poor - it's so poor I cannot share.

This is how a flat PNG on XD looks on iPhone - too pixelated

Hi Kenneth,

Not the exact solution, but can you go through this article https://medium.com/thinking-design/protip-exporting-assets-in-adobe-xd-c586996de703 and see if the suggestions here help you?

Thanks,

Preran

How are you "previewing"? Are you using the XD mobile app, or opening a 1x PNG? If you're opening a PNG, then of course a 1x PNG will be pixelated. You'd need a 2x PNG to see a sharper version.

I'm viewing via iPhone XD app and also web preview. I get that @x1 image will never be perfectly sharp on iPhone but still the quality can/should be much better. This is how the same @x1 PNG looks through iPhone Photos app:

The picture is not sharp of course but not pixelated like the one through XD.  I guess the image interpolation XD is using is causing this?

Can you try using a 2X PNG and let us know your observations?

Thanks,

If it's the Live Preview that you mean, then yes, Adobe ought to be able send a 2X or 3X preview to the phone, assuming it has a way to know which device is viewing right now.

A work around would be to place 2X graphics in your your 1X XD layout, and scale the image to 50%. Then it seems sharp on iPhone X. Vectors already look sharp.

Another approach would be to use a document size of 750x1624, instead of the 375x812 preset. Then bitmaps look sharp at 100%.
