Prototype performance speed following June 2018 Update

Community Beginner ,
Jun 22, 2018 Jun 22, 2018

Having updated to the June 2018 release of XD, two things are occurring:

1) prototype publishing appears to freeze at 75% complete (though if I wait long enough it eventually completes without the progress bar ever moving past 75%)... as an additional note on that, the publish process fails if I attempt to modify any of my artboards during the time it's uploading.

2) once prototypes are published, when viewing the link URL on a desktop browser (good internet speeds) or on a phone (connected to WiFi or strong LTE signal) -- page transitions take a very long time to load... where they had been nearly instantaneous prior to the June update.

Thanks!

Jason

Hi Jason,

Sorry that you are facing issues while publishing and previewing prototypes on browsers and mobile phones. I would request you to update Adobe XD to the latest version which is Adobe XD 9.1. Please launch Adobe Creative Cloud, click on 3 dots on the top right corner and select Check for app updates.

Please feel free to update this discussion after the updating to the latest version.

Thanks,

Atul_Saini

I updated to the latest, and I get the same results as originally described.

The only thing different in my files since updating to the June release (and then to 9.1) is using fixed elements. Not sure if that is part of what is causing the slowness?

Hi Jason.

Fixed elements require us to upload more data when sharing and download more data when viewing, as there are more pieces needed to make up the design, so sharing will be slightly slower than before. If you have many fixed layers you can try grouping them and setting the group to be fixed, which might reduce the amount of data shared.

If you would like to share the link with us someone may be able to take a look and see if there's something particular that's going wrong.

I definitely have a lot of artboards, each with a fixed element (well, 3 that could be combined into a group and then fixed).

I will go thru and try the grouping – but the issue likely still needs to be addressed.

Wow, that is loading slowly. We'll see what we can do (although we won't be able to fix immediately I'm afraid).

I am having the same problem with most of my site that I publish, especially this one.. Adobe XD CC

It is image heavy... is there a way for XD to compress the image before uploading? It gets frustrating when trying to show a client.

Thanks

Tatum

Update: I modified my XD file and removed all instances of fixed elements – and I’m still having the speed issue with the prototype link.

I have the same issue.  Prototype link takes forever to load.  I have to switch to something else to show my prototype to client.

Hi Shelbya & PioneerSabs,

Can you please try to update XD to the latest version and let me know if you are still facing this issue? The latest version is Adobe XD 11.0. Here is some more information about the process to update the app: - Update apps to the latest release of Adobe Creative Cloud.

Please update this discussion in case you need further assistance.

Thanks,

I have the same problem. XD is updated to the latest version. I have used this prototype link with clients for a while now and it used to be awesome. However, now it takes about 30 sec to 1 minute to load even 1 board with minimal assets.

Please help.

Joe

Atul,

The update did seem to speed up the prototype links... but it is still not where it used to be. Before the June update, prototypes were lightning fast (provided a good internet connection). Even with the newest release, I still get lag time between screens -- it does bring up a ghosted version of the content, but shows a loading spinner for a moment, then the full resolution screen appears.

Of note: within a single prototype, some screens transition very quickly as they should... while others remain slow. I haven't noticed a reason for which are slow and which are fast based on content -- as some very small screens can take a while to load, while certain image-heavy ones can be quick.

We deployed an update today to preload more data, which improves the loading experience, and there are some further updates to come.

Please let us know if this improves things and if you continue to see issues.

I checked the loading speed again and it's still the same. It takes about 20secs to load my page and I don't think they are heavy.

LATEST

Would you be able to direct message me the URL to your prototype, so that we can investigate?
