Since the latest CC 2019 update, file associations of .psd-files seem to be broken, they will open with Adobe XD CC 2019 instead of Photoshop CC 2019. We tried several things to manually change that over the windows standard filetypes, with no luck. The only way to fix that issue here was to uninstall Adobe XD, as soon we reinstalled it, the same mess.

Hi FUNE78,
Sorry that you are experiencing issues with file association after the recent release. I would request you to try the steps mentioned here on this link: - How to fix broken file type associations for Creative Cloud apps. Please update this discussion in case you need further assistance.
Thanks,

I tried those steps already, seems to be very stuck this time... the only thing that really helped us was to kick Adobe XD and not install it anymore.

I have exactly the same problem. I've tried to reset them in the file associations dialog, but XD won't release psd files. I've even tried resetting it in the registry, to no effect. Uninstalling XD is the only solution that works, and that's not a very good solution.

There have been recent reports that Windows 10 has a file association bug. We've contacted Microsoft about this, but it's unfortunately not something we control. Microsoft Broke Windows 10 Again, Despite Warnings From Windows Insiders I wouldn't recommend the registry workaround, but it looks like the article has some suggestions on how to at least deal with the issue short term.

Even if there is a bug in windows, that does still not explain why your own updates cripple your filetype entries. The problem was known and it's not a new one.
