Seriously guys, what are you doing?

I'm a UI/UX Designer, I've been trying XD since the beginning, always trying to make companies switch from sketch (since this was eventually going to run on windows and it did, which has many advantages for teams involving people everywhere with different OS).

I put up with a lot of missing features while on beta, and using ir for free.

But now, Adobe XD is a PAID product and you have yet to deliver basic features.

It's not like you've never developed similar software before, you've been doing it for years you know the drill.

Flipping an object, rulers, guides and the ability to have different properties for the same text block, (and I'm yet to find how to mask something)...

These are basic features, that should not be missing on a paid version of the software.

These are the things that make it extremely hard for most designers  to choose XD  over Sketch as the default software for designing (unless they're forced to by their OS).

Not to mention sketch offers all of the above and a couple of more features and it's cheapper.

See What's the roadmap for Adobe XD? for the roadmap for Adobe XD CC.

You can see the current community voted features in priority order on our User Voice site - you’re welcome to add vote on your requests to influence what we work on as we develop Adobe XD.

That said, there are few workarounds that you may want to try

For setting different properties on the same text block: Select a sub range of text that you want to style and set its properties independently. See Text Character Level Colors – Adobe XD Feedback : Feature Requests & Bugs

Thanks for the tips. Really.

And i’m familiar with upvoting features, but I believe a few should be considered basic (particularly when you’re selling the product).

Adobe knows this, because it has a huge user database and experience, that goes back ages and in different fields including designers. And after using so many products for so many years one could expect a new one from the brand to behave similarly ans offer some basic features many of the others already share. For instance, masking, i tried the illustrator way and photoshop way and then got lost.

Finding work arounds for basic stuff makes us waste valuable time within a team workflow, and  is not suitable for a paid version.

Basically you’ve a huge weight on your shoulders when it comes to user’s expectations, because Adobe is a huge brand that’s been in the field for a long time. We are expecting at least not less than what you’ve have made us expect. (Don’t care about super cool features, basic ones that guarantee cerain performance).

And I’m sorry but XD is not meeting those expectations. And i’m dissapointed. That’s it

I couldn't agree more. Every update is minor and all the cool features that were promised never materialize. I feel like we've been totally duped and they have about 3 people working on XD.

Go back to any preview video or Adobe Max video on youtube and you'll see things like...

* Bringing in dummy images/text from website with one click to fill a repeat grid

* Collaborative editing with a rewind-able timeline (this feature looked amazing).

We don't even have very basic features like....

* The ability to crop an image properly (or crop an artboard to the size of an object).

* The ability to name or organize symbols

* The ability to wire up things in symbols in prototypes (haven't used prototypes at all because of this).

Requests for basic features are being ignored so it's unlikely the really cool features are ever coming and in the mean time other products are being released are coming along fr more rapidly, from much smaller and less well funded companies. I'm close to giving up on XD.
