Question

Spellcheck not always available in my language

In the menu the text Turn Spellcheck Off text is there. So my spellcheck is on. I'm writing in my native language Danish and writing some words wrong to see if the spellchecker detects it inside a textbox. When I'm writing the wrong spelled words for the first time they turn up red but when I click off the text box and return to it the wrongly spelled words appear with normal color, no red error. However, if I double click inside the textbox the wrong spelled words receive a red underline. When I right click on the wrongly spelled words all I get is English suggestions, so my native language is not detected by XD although my keyboard and my language in the general spellchecker for Outlook, MS Word and all other application is set to Danish. The weird thing here is that it actually works with correct language spelling sporadically, so this new spellchecker is not very stable. It skips from being English only to my language. When I'm using Outlook and MS Word the spellchecker works in line with the language of my preference. So could this be a bug? Some sort of instability with XD? On the update blog page it says "XD will suggest spellings of any words you’ve possibly misspelled as you’re typing them." This does not work at all. I never get that automatically as I'm typing.

There are no direct options to actually define or set language inside XD, so how is this supposed to work with other languages than English?

W10.

    Hello perrybrus,

You can change the spellchecker's language by changing your Windows 10 keyboard language:

Go to the start menu and type in "Region & language". If you only have English installed, you have to "Add a language" and choose another language. Then you can change between languages from the task bar -- near the date, by clicking on "ENG", or by pressing "Alt + Shift".

Please let me know if this works for you

As mentioned my native language is not detected by XD although my keyboard and my language in the general spellchecker for Outlook, MS Word and all other application is set to Danish. So it is adjusted to native language in W10. The fact that XD provides correct language only on a sporadic level leads me to believe that XD is buggy also on this feature.

    Yes, I can confirm that.

I tried to reproduce this behavior on my machine with Danish keyboard settings and English OS language and failed to do so:

Edit mode on a text box with:

    >>>>>>>>

    Hej Verden!

    Hej Verdrn!

    <<<<<<<<

underlines "Verdrn" and gives "Verden", "Vreden", "Varden" as suggestions, which seems appropiate.

Does this happen correctly on your machine, too?

If yes, can you please give me a concrete example where your spellchecker problem manifests and your Windows version (Version ..., OS Build ...)? You can do this by going to Start > type in 'winver' > Enter
