I checked it out on a Windows system, and the scenario you describe is the same on my version. I bet it's due to Adobe XD's poor or at least unusual treatment of text selections and settings. Text specs can only be set for a selection. The mere cursor position doesn't count as such. So it doesn't know its typographical setting. Which differs from many other word processing and design applications (even within the Adobe family). Just like the silly approach that if you select a word and delete it

It's a bit strange, because deleting all text from a text frame, and switching to doing something else, should actually have the result of the text frame vanishing (at least, that's what happens when I try it in my current Mac version). So getting a non-responsive character setting, is just another oddity. Could you state which Windows version you're using ? And I'll try to reproduce your scenario tomorrow, when I have a Windows version at hand.

Just like the silly approach that if you select a word and delete it, that two spaces are left (on Windows).

These behaviors require more intellegence, experience, and routine from the software and its developers. Nevertheless, every professional product developer should know and implement these patterns ASAP, or have damn good reasons to ignore them.

But I bet we'll get the knee-jerk reaction: "You can put a feature request on UserVoice"... 😉
