Unable to drag and drop PDF's into Adobe XD version(21.1.12.3)

Hello! I am only able to drag and drop png files directly into Adobe XD, I am operating on a macbook pro at work and at home. I would like to drag and drop a pdf because the quality is obviously much better, especially when exporting artboards. I was able to import my original Illustrator file into Adobe Xd, but I added effects to multiple strokes I created within Illustrator, and those effects did not import. I would really like to use Adobe Xd, but will be researching other softwares to use to replace it if I cannot figure out how to revise this issue. Thank you so much!

PDF is not supported in XD. Not all AI features (PSD as well for that matter) are supported either. Saving AI as SVG and import as Sjaani said would be a good idea - but SVG does not support all AI feature either, so if that fails I'd export AI to PNG and import to XD

Hi there,

We are sorry to hear you're having trouble using Adobe XD. We will try my best to help you with this. We'd like to know a few more details like:

  • The OS and XD version of your machine.
  • Is it happening with all the file?
  • If you've windows, could you please try to reproduce the same on windows and share the results with us?

There was a latest released to Adobe XD. Could you please confirm if you have the latest version of XD in the MacBook pro?

Please let us know if you face any issues with this. We'd be happy to help.

Thanks,

Harshika

Hello! Thank you so much for getting back to me. I have Xd version 21, the most updated version. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the latest Xd from my creative cloud. I do not have windows, I have a macbook pro. Should I be able to drag and drop pdf's? I can drag and drop anything into my Illustrator, but not for Xd.

Would using .tif or .svg give you the quality you need?
On Windows using a PDF in XD doesn't work either so I don't think we're supposed to be able to do that.

Very weird how all Adobe products are not supported within each other, but .svg works perfectly, thank you so much!
