Ai - Xd resizing shapes. Xd holds a fix on all sides

When I copy from Ai to Xd, I try and re-shape the object or shape will transform in a strange way. As if it has a fixed parameter.

It's very hard to work in and adjust shapes. Having to go from XD back to Ai about 3 times to get what I want.

Reason for going to Ai and copy paste back to Xd,
My rectangle with rounded edges has a custom gradient to it, I cant create this style in Xd.

Instead of copying and pasting into XD, have you tried any of the following?

  • File > Open (or Import) the Illustrator file to get it into XD.
  • In Illustrator, do a File > Export > Export As and choose SVG. Then try importing the SVG file into XD.

Please try to open Ai file in Xd. Did you use Past Appearance?

You can also copy a vector file to the OS clipboard and use the Paste Appearance option to paste the image directly as an image fill.

Bring in assets from Illustrator

You can open Illustrator files in XD, or import them.

You can also copy vector and bitmap images from Adobe Illustrator and paste them into XD retaining the same fidelity and editability when you open or import Illustrator files. Illustrator files are placed within the open document rather than opening them as a separate document. Smart objects are imported as expanded layers instead of bitmaps, and adjustment layers are retained. However, you cannot copy and paste an Illustrator artboard to XD.

You can also copy a vector file to the OS clipboard and use the Paste Appearance option to paste the image directly as an image fill.

You can also bring in Adobe Illustrator assets stored in Creative Cloud Libraries into XD by dragging them from the Libraries panel to the XD canvas. For more information, see Creative Cloud Libraries in Adobe XD.

Hi,
Thanks for the information.
However I am only meaning copy pasting from Ai to Xd and then the issue is 're-shaping in Xd'. Attached image.Screenshot 2019-06-12 at 14.27.16.png

If you disable the responsive resize switch would it help? Also you can try pressing the shift key while resizing

If disabling responsive resize didn't work, you can try selecting just the shape and resize it separately

Yes, inside the frame you mean?
It still has the same locked re size.
Maybe something adobe should address for super smooth work flow.
I am aware this is not a huge issue. It would be amazing if it was exactly the same as Ai upon pasting

Thanks for all your help guys.

Hey,
Thanks so much, yes I am aware of this method.
However the workflow is just not seamless like this. I was wishing and hoping for the copy paste attributes to work fluidly. I can imagine Xd would want this as this will be a positive feature and pump Xd above Figma, Sketch and others.
