All character and component assets dropped from master file and no longer work

I've lost hours on this one. I've tried what I've read in other forums about this and nothing works. It's incredibly frustrating. 

I have an master assets file for all my Character styles, Components and colors. In the past 2 weeks they disconnected and I just learned that our designer has been forced to manually typeset all the content. I'm trying to connect and edit components without any luck and lost more time than I can recover trying to fix this glitch.  Please help. 

It's happening to ALL assets and all fonts are confirmed as round numbers (no decimals)

XD version: v35.0.12

macOS Catalina Version 10.15.7

I have a log collecting if I'm told where to send it...
