[Design]-Make master files in Adobe XD like in InDesign.

Hey Adobe XD team,

I've been using Adobe XD since you guys rolled out the Beta Version.

I like it very much, and use it at my job daily, what I would really like is for there to be a feature for me to declare a master file somewhere, and reuse design.

Just like master pages InDesign.

Please see what you can do.

Thank you for reaching out and using Adobe XD. If I heard you right, you want to create a master file like in InDesign and use it with a different document without recreating the design again and again. Hence, you can create a design of your choice in XD and save it in the system or cloud and then you can link the document with any other new document in order to use the component or assets of the master file. Master Pages are a typical design approach for static designs with static sizes – print media. These is not very helpful and flexible enough for designing new media like websites and apps, which need various different sizes and layouts. So it's more logical to design with repeating elements, called Components in Adobe XD. They can be all over the place, and in various sizes and variations. So a consistent design is achieved by repeating similar elements on the page(s) itself, in stead of using a separately designed page as a master.

As a matter of fact, Adobe InDesign is mimicking this element-based approach to a certain degree, by letting you set Object Styles with fixed sizes and positions.

However, you could dedicate one artboard as a master, select all elements, turn them into one big Component and simply Copy/Paste it onto all applicable pages. This way you're only missing the automatic placement of any repeating element(s). But a quick alt-drag will do the copying for you...
