Situation:

I have a hover triggered animation on a component in which a drop shadow appears on a shape, and some text appears too. I have done so by changing opacity from 0 to 100% for the text object and the drop shadow component of the shape.

Expectation:

I expect that the drop shadow and the text will both ramp into visibility at the same specified rate.

Actual Result:

The text ramps smoothly into visibility as expected. The drop shadow blinks into existence at the end of the text transition.

Hi, Can you give us a quick video of what you're seeing. I'm wondering if it's a visual thing with text seeming to be faster due to colour differences. Did you create a separate shape as the shadow or use the shadow option in Appearance?

Just like fill and line colors, and some other settings which can't yet interpolate in animations, shadows (on/off and its settings) are neither guranteed to behave as wished or expected, especially with the overall opacity of an element. The range of available animation characteristics is still very rudimentary.

So try to design without or around them.

BTW, there's also a UserVoice feature request for it, since 2018. Vote for it !
