Hi,

At what point will XD be able to actually export out a project as a publishable app. I do not see the logic in being able to design something & then have to send it off as a detailed image prototype only to have to be  designed again by a developer. Why should I not be able to simply publish the project right from XD? I was initially excited about this product when it was first introduced 5+ years ago. However not being able to actually publish or export out a project meaningfully after 5 years is very dissapointing & make me question the value of my Creative Cloud account.

Thanks.

As someone who has published apps, there is so much more that just the visual design that goes into developing one. Connecting to remote APIs, setting up Login systems, storing data offline, working with on-device elements like the the camera or GPS. Then there is all the code that is your business logic, and so.  These are complex tasks that require real engineering and development. They are things that are not added through some info panel in a GUI.

Hi Doormats,

Thank you for reaching out. We had a similar discussion regarding this feature in past here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/adobe-xd/how-to-export-html-css-javascript-from-adobe-xd/td-p/9336611... and they have suggested a plugin for it.

Could you please check out the post and let us know if that helps?

Thanks,

Harshika

Hi,

Thanks for your reply, Pardon me, No that answer is not helpful to me. That post does not detail a method for being able to export an app that has been designed & only addresses a bits & peices approach to cobbling together fragments of a website design. As stated a tool to prototype a design is of great limitation & dissapointing - Why should I have to spend time & money working on a design to have to spend more time & money to have someone then code out a design? I must admit I am let down & unenthused. I was hoping that after 5 years the tool would mature.

As to "Why prototype?", well to validate the design BEFORE you spend your money on development. Does the layout of my interface make sense to others, Can they navigate from screen to screen in a logical fashion. Do the colors work? Can I use the design outside in bright sun and not in my office. The list goes on and on. the saving on do this step can up be to 100X. Really.

But if you are looking for a point and click app builder, XD will never fit that bill.

Adobe XD has alway been about designing and prototyping. It was never meant to be an app generator.
