How to fix an element once you scroll to a certain point?

Hi all,

I'm trying to simulate something like the side navigation on this website (https://www.structube.com/en/living-room/page/19), where once the navigation hits the top of the screen, it sticks (or is fixed) until you hit the footer, then it doesn't go past the footer.

I tried the "fix position when scrolling" option, however, I have a banner and a bunch of stuff at the top of my artboard/page, so my navigation doesn't show up until the user scrolls later on the page. When I use the "fix position when scrolling" option, it doesn't work because it's cut off because it's past the viewport cutoff. Any tips on how to simulate this?
