DNxHD rendered files are corrupted

New Here ,
Feb 07, 2022 Feb 07, 2022

Steps to reproduce:
    1. Render to 1080p Avid DnxHD LB-8bit.
    2. Do the same render in AE v22.1.1 or previous AE beta v22.3.0.2#

Result: The rendered movie doesn't open in Quicktime Player or Avid Media Composer. File icon is not correct, it's a generic Mov icon without the thumbnail. Compare with the same comp rendered with AE v22.1.1 (see the screenshot).

System info
    Application: After Effects (Beta) v22.3.0.39
OS: macOS v12.1.0, RAM: 64,00 GB GB, CPUs (logical): 10

One question: I can't reproduce in Media Composer, only QuickTime Player. What version of Media Composer are you using?

Hi Tom,

Thanks for your support and bug fixes.

Media Composer version is 2018-12-15.

So I have a sort of "good news"/"bad news" situation here. The issue with QuickTime Player has been fixed. Thank you for reporting that. The bad news though is that because we've updated the way DNxHD files are written in order to be up-to-date with the current version of their DNx spec these files may not open in older verisons of Media Composer.
