Steps to reproduce:

  1. open graph editor
  2.  switch mode to "edit value graph"
  3.  edit anything in the curve - handles, keys, etc.
    Result: CRASHES AE
Expected: To edit the curve, of course!

This issue is resolved in After Effects Beta v23.1.0.40.

There was an issue with a scripting call used by the Motion 4 extension. If Motion 4 was open, this scripting call could cause After Effects to crash when you interacted with the graph editor. The problem with the scripting call has been fixed in build 40 and later.

Ahh... I forgot to mention that I hadn't added Motion 4 back into my UI panels. Since I don't use it very often, I will leave it out.
