After Effects error: crash occurred while invoking effect plug-in “3D Camera Tracker”.

I've been getting this quite a bit, (and my Sapphire plugins are just torturing After Effects. Constant crashes.)

 

I have an NVidia RTX 3090.

What's the recommended stable driver for AE 2025? How about 2024?

Hi @ericmlevy, 

 

I'm aware of a few crashes with Sapphire crashes that need to be fixed on Boris FX's end. 

One way for us to determine if the crash is in AE is for you to turn the Sapphire Plugin off and then try to crash the 3D Camera Tracker without it in the mix. 

If you go to the top bar menu in AE:

1. Select Effects > Manage Effects 
2. Click on "Only Show Third-Party Effects" 
3. Disable the Sapphire Effects by unchecking the box
4. Re-launch AE 
5. Run the 3D Camera Tracker and try to crash

Hi @ericmlevy, 

 

I'm aware of a few crashes with Sapphire crashes that need to be fixed on Boris FX's end. 

One way for us to determine if the crash is in AE is for you to turn the Sapphire Plugin off and then try to crash the 3D Camera Tracker without it in the mix. 

If you go to the top bar menu in AE:

1. Select Effects > Manage Effects 
2. Click on "Only Show Third-Party Effects" 
3. Disable the Sapphire Effects by unchecking the box
4. Re-launch AE 
5. Run the 3D Camera Tracker and try to crash 


If you can crash again, please submit your email and a brief description of your crash in the Crash Reporter Dialog. 

If you're not able to crash again, then please reach out to Borix FX with your logs and info.

I figured out the problem. It's my i9 14900K processdor.

If you're getting random crashes in AE and Status Access Violation crashes in Chrome all of the time, it's could be an i9 processor problem.


The solution was to underclock a little bit, underclock the first 2 performance cores from x60 to x57, and follow this BIOS guide: https://www.reddit.com/r/ASUS/comments/1azxzjl/14900k_undervolt_guide/

For what it's worth, I need to have XMP off for my BIOS to POST.
