After effects v24 and 24.0.1 keeps shifting forward keyframes within animation presets

Every time I use any of my animation presets that use an effect, the keyframes attached to the preset gets shifted a few seconds into the timeline and not where the playhead is - which is normal behaviour in AE 2023.

I rely heavily on these presets with keyframes so I cannot update to 2024 until this is fixed.

Has anyone else had the same problem?

Hi all,

This issue was fixed in After Effects 24.0.2. If you continue to experience keyframes being shifted when applying presets in After Effects versions after 24.0.2, please let us know.

Thank you again for reporting this bug,

When using the applyPreset() method to apply a FFX preset, I'm getting a problem with the keyframe timing in AE 2023 vs AE 2024. Issue also appears to be on Win/Mac.

In 2023, the ffx applies at the current time indicator:

In 2024, the ffx applies some time (~4s) after the current time indicator:

Despite the CTE being at 0 seconds, the keyframes are placed differently using the same FFX File. Has anyone else come across this or know how to fix the behaviour?

If you download the current AE 24.1 beta there should be a fix for this issue in it. We are also aiming to get a 24.0.l fix out later today with the fix in it.

This is happening with 24.0.1 as well? We put a fix in for some keyframe issues with 24.0.1 that we thought fixed this.

Can you send us a preset and steps that repros the problem so we can see what's going on?

Looks like we've identified some cases where the fix from 24.0.1 won't fix this issue. We have a fix in hand and will be putting it into beta early next week. Once we know it fixes the issue, we will look see when we can get it into a non-beta release.

I recently updated my after effects, and ever since i migrated all my saved presets to After Effects 2024, my presets aren't placing in the correct position.

Usually, when applying presets that have keyframes, they appear where your cursor is, or wherever you have stopped the video, but mine appear way further back and I always have to go to the very start of my sequence and then apply it because sometimes my sequence is too short and the keyframes sometimes won't even show.

Please help!! I'm not quite sure what i'm doing wrong!!

Thank you 🙂

I'm having the same annoying issue.  I've tried resaving my presets under new names and it still throws the keyframes to some other random location in the timeline.  Adobe presets work fine, it's only the user presets that are affected.  Would love to see this fixed as I use my presets quite often.

Sorry about the trouble. We have a fix that should go into AE Beta builds this week and are looking at when we can get an update out to non-beta builds with this fixed. Stay tuned.

Im still experiencing this so i updated to 2025 and its still like this, im not sure what the problem is but sometimes the first keyframes will go on the playhead and the rest of the keyframes will be kind of "stretched out" over the rest of the sequence proportionally
