<Overview>
When importing AVI files into After Effects, the import process takes a very long time, depending on the length of the video, and the UI freezes during this period.
Importing a few hundred frames takes several seconds (although this is still slower than before), but importing several thousand frames takes tens of seconds.
This refers to performance on a standard SATA SSD. On an HDD, loading takes several "minutes".
What's worth noting is that this doesn't occur in After Effects 24.1 but has been happening since version 24.2.1, which suggests that a regression may have occurred between these versions.
Furthermore, after importing, when the footage is placed onto the timeline, the preview remains black, and it again takes tens of seconds (or several minutes) before the preview becomes visible.
<Steps to reproduce>
1. Launch After effects
2. Select New project
3. Drag and Drop a AVI file (e.g. Not compressed, UT video codec, etc. , Full HD, 5000 frames)
<Expected result>
File import finishes instantly.
<Actual result>
It takes tens of seconds or even minutes to import the file.
During file import, the UI freezes. If you try to close AE, it crashes.
<Version-dependent behavior >
After effects 24.1.0 -- Issue does not occur (The outcome matches the Expected result.)
After effects 24.2.1 -- Issue occures.
After effects 25.2.0 -- Issue occures.
<My System Configuration>
Intel core i7 8700, Windows 11, 64GB RAM, GeForce RTX2060
AE settings are default. No other applications were running at the time.
(Although my setup is a bit old, the import completes instantly in AE 24.1, so I believe the processor is not to blame.)
